Food Groovers and Food Hoovers

Hi all, its been a while since ive last updated my blog. I can only apologise. Ive been working different shifts, 30 hrs a week, working out at least 3-4 times a week and being a mum to a soon to be 1 yr old very active boy! Mean while trying to catch up with friends inbetween. Its becoming easier living the clean lifestyle. So much so that if im shopping in Tescos and put the odd thing in my trolley thats not clean, i check to see if anyones looking lol Ive been working out in Deborahs world since last Christmas. Theses months have gone by so fast, but while they gone by my body has dramatically changed. I have no regrets , only regret is that i wish id met Deborah sooner. 1 of my goals was to fit in a pile of clothes ive had for a bout 5 years that ive never worn. Not only have i achieved that, ive gone through clothes as quick as ive washed them. Ive shrunk that quick i  wonder how long im gonna spend in a new top or jeans! Its nice feeling now having thighs in line with my armpits.Im no longer bottom heavy!

I was having a chat with a friend the other week about Mood Hoovers.(Someone who sucks all the good feelings out a room. They are obsessed with doom and gloom and that is where there conversations are focused.) Now if you have a think about it i bet you actually know a few people like that. Then we have the Mood groovers. (someone you can positively bounce off just by their good energy) Theres times when we all can be a bit of a Mood Hoover without even knowing. If your not a morning person i bet you tend to not want to be around anyone until youve fully woken up! Now the reason why im going on about this is, when your on a life change with your diet you will come across people that are Food Hoovers (people that will eat anything, dont want to change and are happy to push their habbits onto you and try ruin your progress) Yes theres people like this out there. They dont want to see you succeed where they may have already failed time and time again. Then we have the Food Groovers ( someone who are food savvy, want to see you succeed or might not be eating the same things but are positively supporting your efforts). I usually come across this in the staff room, after weeks of food groovers failed efforts i now see some have turned into food groovers and want a bit of what i got. Hope this has given you some food for thought. Stand your ground and remember why you are doing what your doing. What do you want out of your journey?  Ive given up on the scales, the numbers go down slow but the inches are coming off fast.

As you all may know i do most of Deborah Welchs classes, i really wanted to try spend the next few blogs talking about each type of class i go to and what they do.

Kettlebell - What is it?
A kettlebell is quite simply a cast iron ball with a handle attached to the top of it.
Kettlercise is a metabolic workout and therefore increases your metabolism, burns bodyfat fast, and delivers results quickly!

The Benefits of Kettlebell Training

Check Mark Suitable for men and women alike, all fitness levels

Check Mark Improves strength, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, power and balance

Check Mark Conditions your core, improves muscle tone and flattens the abdominals all whilst standing on the spot!

Check Mark Increases your heart rate and metabolism delivering a full body workout

Check Mark Targets the body's major muscle groups and the smaller muscles that stabilize, all in a short space of time

Check Mark BURNS BODY FAT FAST!

I go to a 45min kettlebell class, this class helps me to burn fat for up to three days as long as ive given my effort during the class. After all you get out what you put in. I no longer go to my local gym. Why would i need to spend hours in the gym like i did before. Kettlebells really has helped to shape my body and melt away fat.

If your tempted in giving kettlebells a try then get in touch with Deborah Welch. If you are however not living near to her may i suggest if your looking for a kettlebell instructor that they are certified. Please check out http://www.rkps.org/  to find your nearest instructor.

Battle of the staff room....

So being back at work, working shifts is only hard if I don't plan it right. I like to plan my meals in advance either the day before or a few days before my shift depending on what im eating. If I don't I would fail misserably. It's becoming a daily battle of the staff room for me. Plates of cakes, iced cupcakes, biscuits, sweets given from the community. I'm just glad I plan my snacks now too. It's hard for me to get that extra meal in at work as I only have two breaks. Hopefully Il come up with something, as I don't want to feel ravenous by my second break.
Saying that , eating my lunch always raises a few eyebrows. I can see they drop there heads down and say "oh that looks healthy" . Which is fine but I'm hearing it a bit too often its becoming old news. I'm proud to be healthy. My meals are far from dull, last week it was so hot so I ate lots of salads.feta cheese, heartily, peppers and green leafy salad with squeezed lemon and some humous goes nicely. Then other times Il invent new dishes when I have time. My fave is rosemary, garlic and oregano sweet potato chips with lemon chili flavoured chicken with lots of green veg. The Sun has been out and its been very hot, this time last year I was two months away from giving birth to my son.I was limited to what I could wear. The year previous to that I just wore the same old thing. No matter what I wore, in what ever colour I still looked like a walking 4 man tent. I'm so thankfull this year, I've brought new clothes, colours and patterns. Everything I have worn so far I'm thankfull of. I'm feeling cool, showing skin and feel like a woman should....sexy. Its such a nice moment when all your washing hanging on the line is like a rainbow rather then black. I even brought myself a pair of those tight lycra leggings that people wear to workout in. Oh my! It's not so long ago that I remember looking at the skinny minis thinking god I'd love to get away with wearing them! The size 16 ones I brought are too loose!

I found this recipe and i thought id share, its a nice snack to have. They remind me of bombay mix. you can flavour these in any flavour/spice to suit you.

4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 ounce) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt (optional)
  • garlic salt (optional)
  • cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Blot chickpeas with a paper towel to dry them. In a bowl, toss chickpeas with olive oil, and season to taste with salt, garlic salt, and cayenne pepper, if using. Spread on a baking sheet, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until browned and crunchy. Watch carefully the last few minutes to avoid burning.
i cooked mine in coconut oil and used paparika and chilli. They have a crunchy texture.

Heres a couple more meal ideas as promised.
Roasted chicken flavoured with lemon, chili and sweet potato wedges in oregano, rosemary and garlic with lots of brocolli and kale.
This was my own homemade icecream. great recipe to tryout different combinations , mine was orange, lime and cuecumber blended. then few sunflower seeds on top. You could try mixed berrys and almonds. However dont leave in the freezer for too long as it will become hard as nails!
Vanilla Greek Frozen Yogurt
2 cups full fat  plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla
Stir together Greek yogurt, honey and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour until well chilled. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s directions.
For a soft serve consistency, serve immediately. For a firm, scoop-able consistency transfer to a freezer container and freeze until firm. (Homemade frozen yogurt, especially low fat frozen yogurt, freezes very firm. To serve, let the frozen yogurt soften at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes or until soft enough to scoop.)
Makes about 1 pint (4 servings)

*Dont forget  you can add any fruit ect and make it truely your own. Lovely for a hot day!*

And The Results Are In.....

Well its only been a week since my last blog but to me its been a very long week! I went back to work after having maternity leave to working shifts, managing a toddler and family life whilst continuing my nutritican plan. All was well, even the soft sponge cakes in the staff room couldn't tempt me. I was determined that i can resist all temptations. The hardest thing i have found was not being able to eat when i wanted. Just not possible where i work but what i did do was plan and prepare my meals and snacks to take to work. Im very pleased that my first two shifts at work went well and even been able to sleep at my set curfew. That was until my little boy became ill and taking him to hospital. I basically had proberly 10 hrs sleep in three days! but i still tried my hardest to stay on plan.

I still managed to go to bootcamp on the Tuesday, didn't make Thursdays as was in hospital but managed kettlebells on the Sunday.I really want to try do more bootcamps so will fit this in around my shifts. Best thing about my week is being able to eat breakfast with my son and watch him tucking into a slice of melon. Hes nearly ten months old so seeing him being healthy and eating well is lovely. He loves his food. But i do believe that if he sees me enjoying my food he will enjoy his too.

Now ive got lots of piccys and also my results of how my 12 weeks into my body transformation is going so far. For anyone whos just started to follow my blog im working with Deborah Welch Fitness and fatloss.http://www.deborahwelchfitness.com/

Was this meant to be the end?

Dear Deborah Welch,
I wanted to give you a little gift for your birthday and thought what else could be better then a public thank you. When you gave me the opportunity to start this body transformation I was amazed that someone wanted to help me change my life. You have given me something id lost  along time ago. A reason to believe in myself. You see when you become overweight, you just end up saying oh well maybe this is how its meant to be and accept the New former self.I was just reaching that point. The weight had slowed right down and even tho I've lost lots I just wasn't changing shape. I really can't thank you enough.you have helped me find my self-worth again, a reason to laugh and even a reason to live again. Not just live to be a mum to my son but a more happy one that wants to go out and live again. More healthy and its good knowing I'm gonna be around my son a lot longer. My ibs is non existent, my heart palpitations have stopped,I can breathe easier going up the stairs and when talking. My knees and back no longer feel like giving up. You've unlocked something inside me, released my potential and now I feel ready to tackle what life has to throw at me. There was a point id go about my day to day life and didn't realise I was hidden inside someone that looked a lot bigger. The moment it became real makes you think how the hell did I end up like this. Then its a daily battle fighting against yourself to not eat this, don't eat that ect. Thank you for being the wonderful person you are. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me and giving me this opportunity. Thank you for Deborahs World :) You've changed my life already and I'm pleased to be in your world a little bit more longer.....
Thank you! Lots of burpees and kettlebell swings
Mira x x x

Deborah and myself want to continue my body transformation. I don't feel I'm ready to finish yet. Plus Deborah wants to help and support me to make it a more permanent life change. We are now talking another 9 months so that would make a year body transformation. Il be focusing on changing shape and becoming more lean. I have a few more goals in sight :) and I feel bringing this transformation and eating clean around working shifts will be interesting. I will update my blog again next week then update every two weeks :)  Exciting stuff. Think of what we have achieved in three months!  I really don't know what my end result will be.all I know is its going to be amazing.I'm so excited! I'm really looking forward to motivating all my followers also. :)

Once again, Thank you Deborah for believing in me xxx

Come so far in a short amount of time....

My week has gone so quick, well it feels like that. I now wake up feeling lean and toned rather then flabby and breathless. My body doesn't ache too bad from all the exercise because I'm now use to it. My knees no longer feel like they are going to buckle underneath me. I can actually say my legs are especially my shins and calf's are the thinnest Ive ever seen in my life :)  After another week of metabolic class, kettlebells, bootcamps and weight training I'm proud to say i had a 1 and 1/2 pound loss. That's like a large cup and half of fat gone from my body.

I have only got about a week left with my transformation with Deborah Welch. I also go back to work, my maternity leave has come to the end. However during my journey i realised that this isn't a quick fix. i didn't want it to be another moment in my life. Ive worked too hard to just throw it all away. I will be continuing my blog as a working mum wanting to stay healthy and fit. Theres people out there that actually believe they haven't got time to be healthy or to be fit. I want to show you all that you can. Even if your funds are low.I only know too well how hard its been and may have not always put it in my blog. When i started with Deborah i was over 16 stone, im now currently around 14 stone mark. I was 19 stone after the birth of my son. My weight started to hit a plateau and since meeting Deborah its just melted away. As the weight has fallen off so has the bad memories of my past, the hurt, the pain and the anger. I had learnt that through exercise i could channel these thoughts and bring out something positive and although some things in my life especially through my transformation  i couldn't prevent- ie my mum having cancer the second time round. I had learned to carry on rather then stop and be a complete worrying mess. Life is hard, but sometimes its just all swings and roundabouts. You gotta take the rough with the smooth and tackle life in a more positive way. I decided that if I'm a healthier person and i fall ill i would have a much more better chance in fighting.

To eating foods like this......

To changing my body shape, loosing fat, lots of inches all over and having a more sculpt body. Two stone might not seem a lot on the scales, but the amount of inches I've lost is unbelievable! Ive overcome doubters, haters and learnt to kick other negative putdowners out of my life.

My progress month from month, the top was my start, middle was the end of the first month, and third row was the end of the second row.

Now if i can do it, so can you! Don't sit and take a back seat. Don't be like how i was, watching tv programs of other overweight people loosing weight and thinking oh i wish i can do that. I spent the last 5 years doing that. Fad diets, shakes, pills. Always searching for that next weightloss fix!

All you need is determination and the words  "I KNOW I CAN"

Remember, life is for living! So find your true self-worth and live it how you really should!

Look out for next weeks blog :)

Old habits creeping in...

Just as the title , old habits are creeping in between the gaps of my life. It sucks because I've let it happen. Late nights, not drinking much water, didn't continue my food diary, stop eating my snacks and ended up either not eating enough or eating huge portions in one go. Although the scales didn't move this week more did I put on I feel somewhat disappointed with myself. The determination and motivation seems to have slipped. Well no more! Why should I allow myself to go backwards, why should I not only let Deborah Welsh (trainer)down but most of all myself. How can I have new goals if I haven't completed the ones I already have. Yep maybe your thinking I'm being hard on myself but to be honest I think by giving yourself a talking to every once in a while isn't a bad thing. I'm shaking this up. Food diary has been started. It helped before because I also could make sure I ate little and often. I've cleared my mind and have started today as if it was my first day I started with the Deborah Welch M.E.T.H.O.D  nutrition plan. After all there's method in her madness and it actually works. I'm proof of that. Gonna pull it out of the bag for her and myself next week. If any of you that lives near by and Fancy's trying out what Fitness classes Deborah has to offer then please do add her on Facebook. Sign up to her news letter free to receive free advice, recipes, exercise tips. I'm a girl on a mission now. Needed to get my mojo back, will let you know next blog if I actually do :) . Breakfast was large  scrambled eggs with peppers, onions, spinach. Snacks ,boiled egg, red pepper banana and Lunch, sweet potato jacket with humous, feta and spring onion with side salad. Roast Turkey for tea tonight with all the trimmings just no gravy for me. My last meal will be at 6pm the latest.  I'm currently aching from last nights metabolic class and have completed bootcamp in the rain this morning. Wasn't too bad when your on the move. You forget its actually raining.I'm hoping to do Thursdays bootcamp too then kettlebells at end of the week. All classes  ran by Deborah Welch and there is always variation in each class. Never get bored, she always has something new to show you and get you to take part. In my  last blog I had spoke about how I actually found loosing the weight easier when I was bigger. It's getting harder now, so I need to start challenging myself to do what is asked, to not give in before the desired time and to put more reps in. I'm finding I hit that burn feeling and rather then pushing through it I stop. One of the most things I find hard at the moment is working on my abs.Deborah always has brilliant exercises for the abs, its hard but it works.I'm going to be pushing myself even more during our abdominal workout... I really want to banish this lower part of my tummy now :)

Heres an old pic of my stomach, I'm putting it here to spur me on and to keep me remembering what i want and can achieve....

Heres to a much more better, positive week for me!

Last few weeks left!...

As usual just another hectic week in my world. Ive been eating so many greens, specially spinach. I'm on a mission to get rid of my pregnancy belly. It feels like its taking forever! I know its shrinking but being impatient its not shrinking fast enough. Id love my hourglass frame back. Ive seem to have forgotten how far I've come, instead I'm thinking how much I've got left. And to be honest considering I've been with Deborah for 2 months Ive actually done very well! Ive now lost 2stone on top of my previous weight loss. Ive now lost 5 stone! We've just had Easter holidays and I'm so glad its been and gone! It was hard. Plus kettlebells had finished for Easter to.I was lucky that my fiance Simon was home for a few days , so i manged to get 2 sessions of bootcamp in :) and some weight training also.

So here are my 2nd month results, in 8 weeks i have lost 2 stone, 9" off stomach and 10" off hips and I'm one very happy girl :)  Here are some photos to show you my start, 1st and 2nd month into my transformation.

When i first saw my photos the first thing i did was pic fault. I'm so used to picking fault with myself that really i should be saying well done me! I can see my arms are getting smaller, my back is alot smoother, my bottom has shrank and although my belly is there its shrunk too. I really need to put my all into these last few weeks now. The strange thing is, when i had all this extra weight i moaned and struggled at everything i did during exercise yet looking back i actually think that was the easy bit. Having the extra weight actually helped me to burn my own body fat. Yet now I'm smaller I've got to do a few more repetitions in and work even harder to get to my goal. I'm actually finding this the hard bit now. What i do know is, doing anything that takes you out of your comfort zone is what will make you reach your goals. I'm gonna push, push, push myself now. I'm going to do things that  i don't really like in exercise class or make me feel uncomfortable, because i want to see results. I wouldn't mind, defined abs well actually some abs to start off would be nice, but realistically i don't think that's achievable in four weeks. So here's my advice to you, if your just starting out and your aim is weightloss, don't put yourself off that workout or let others tell you what you CANT do. Just do it. If you don't like waking up in the morning early, tell yourself all you have to do is roll out of bed sweep your hair back and workout. Getting it done out of the way first thing means you have the rest of the day to yourself, handwork has been completed and you don't have time first thing to make up excuses to why you cant workout today. After I've finished this transformation I'm gonna continue my blog on some new goals of mine. Loosing this weight so far has took a load off my shoulders shell we say lol. The new me is now in arms reach and no longer round the corner.
